KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 11 — Bursa Malaysia remained higher at mid-morning today backed by positive market sentiment.
At 11.01am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,668, up 2.68 points against yesterday’s close of 1,665.32.
Gainers thumped losers 327 to 226, while 343 counters were unchanged, 755 untraded and 27 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 471.95 million shares worth RM458.99 million. For the heavyweights, TNB and Petronas Chemicals gained two sen each to RM14.38 and RM6.79 respectively while IHH Healthcare rose four sen to RM6.54.
Maybank shed one sen to RM7.69 but Public Bank was flat at RM19.78. Among actives, Perisai Petroleum inched down half-a-sen to seven sen while Vivocom was flat at 19.5 sen.
On the scoreboard, the FBM Emas Index rose 23.24 points to 11,772.63, the FBMT100 Index improved 20.91 points to 11,472.72 and the FBM Emas Shariah Index expanded 24.52 points to 12,440.04.
The FBM 70 was 33.78 points higher at 13,750.17 and the FBM Ace went up 36.09 points to 5,175.09.
On a sectoral basis, the Industrial Index gained 2.74 points to 3,128.76, the Finance Index increased 21.99 points to 14,274.79, and the Plantation Index improved 26.16 points to 7,910.39. — Bernama
