Bursa Malaysia lower at mid-morning

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 7 — Bursa Malaysia was lower at mid-morning, dragged down by selected key heavyweight stocks and in line with most regional peers, dealers said.

At 11.03am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,664.19, down 2.54 points against Thursday’s close of 1,666.73.

The index opened 2.21 points higher at 1,668.94 this morning.

Losers led gainers 304 to 219, while 348 counters were unchanged, 788 untraded and 33 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 498.51 million shares worth RM378.02 million.

For the heavyweights, TNB, Maybank and IHH Healthcare each fell two sen to RM14.34, RM7.68 and RM6.53 respectively, and Public Bank eased eight sen to RM19.88.

Among actives, Perak Transit shed 1.5 sen to 19.5 sen, Perisai Petroleum Teknologi was flat at 7.5 sen while Sanichi Technology added one sen to 7.5 sen.

The FBM Emas Index lost 21.48 points to 11,751.51, the FBMT100 Index fell 21.92 points to 11,455.54 and the FBM Emas Shariah Index erased 14.60 points to 12,398.15.

The FBM 70 dropped 42.35 points to 13,762.19 and the FBM Ace was 9.28 points lower at 5,152.85.

On a sectoral basis, the Industrial Index shed 9.18 points to 3,115.94, the Finance Index decreased 23.45 points to 14,288.99 but the Plantation Index improved 22.33 points to 7,873.56. — Bernama
