Bursa Malaysia easier at mid-afternoon

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 13 — Bursa Malaysia was easier at mid-afternoon today on selling of index-linked finance counters, among them, CIMB and RHB.

At 3pm, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,674.39, down 12.05 points against Friday's close of 1,686.44.

It opened 6.17 points lower at 1,680.27.

Decliners led advancers by 644 to 146, while 273 counters were unchanged, 607 untraded and 20 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 767.279 million shares worth RM777.30 million.

Of the finance counters, CIMB fell 18 sen to RM4.72, RHB declined seven sen to RM4.86, Hong Leong was down 22 sen to RM15.48 and AMMB slipped five sen to RM4.29.

Maybank was flat at RM7.95.

Among heavyweights, Axiata was 18 sen lower at RM5.47, Sime Darby and Petronas Chemicals both gave up five sen each to RM7.81 and RM6.63, respectively and SapuraKencana eased four sen to RM1.58. 

Of the most actively-traded stocks, Maxis fell four sen to RM6.21, Genting was down eight sen to RM7.86, Hap Seng slipped 1.1 sen to RM7.62 and MISC fell six sen to RM7.60.

The FBM Emas Index fell 82.01 points to 11,778.91, FBMT100 Index declined 76.83 points to 11,486.17 and the FBM Emas Shariah Index was 83.56 points lower at 12,422.36.

The FBM 70 went down 70.17 points to 13,656.02 and the FBM Ace fell 63.92  points to 5,220.26.

On a sectoral basis, the Plantation Index dropped 17.70 points to 7,870.82 and the Industrial Index was 23.93 points weaker at 3,127.77 and the Finance Index dropped 133.82 points to 14,377.43. — Bernama
