Bursa Malaysia marginally lower at mid-morning

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 8 — Shares on Bursa Malaysia were marginally lower in range-bound trading at mid-morning today, as investors remained cautious amid mixed sentiment on the market, dealers said.

At 11.03am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,689.33, down 0.27 of a point against yesterday’s close of 1,689.57.

It opened 1.96 points better at 1,691.53.

Gainers led decliners 269 to 268, while 346 counters were unchanged, 787 untraded and 15 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 563.43 million shares worth RM336.59 million.

Kenanga Research said investors have taken on a more cautious stance ahead of the key meeting of several central banks from England and the European Union, while the rise in crude oil prices and a decline in the ringgit against the greenback, induced mixed sentiment among them.

For the heavyweights, TNB added six sen to RM14.62, Maybank shed two sen for RM7.88, Petronas Chemicals slid three sen to RM6.67, while Public Bank and IHH were flat at RM19.92 and RM6.65 respectively.

Among actives, Sanichi eased half-a-sen to 9.5 sen, NWP slid 5.5 sen to 33 sen, Xinghe warrant added half-a-sen to one sen, while M3 Technologies warrant and Dagang Nexchange were flat at 3.5 sen and 26.5 sen.

Among the top gainers was KLK, up 20 sen to RM24,as MPI and Scientex grabbed 11 sen each to RM8.11 and RM6.19.

For the top losers, Dutch Lady was down RM1.44 sen to RM59.90, Panasonic Manufacturing slippingd 20 sen to RM36.70, as Oriental Interest shed 18 sen to RM2.81.

The FBM Emas Index improved 2.44 points to 11,876.82, the FBMT100 Index gained 0.39 of a point to 11,579.59, while the FBM Emas Shariah Index improved 9.61 points to 12,514.04.

The FBM 70 rose 8.51 points to 13,734.78, as the FBM Ace added 28.09 points to 5,331.21.

On a sectoral basis, the Industrial Index was 3.58 points lower at 3,160.34, the Finance Index fell 18.67 points to 14,531, while the Plantation Index jumped 45.35 points to 7,890.60. — Bernama
