KL shares mixed in early session

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 6 — Bursa Malaysia was mixed in the early session this morning in tracking the fluctuations on its Asian peers after yesterday's rebound.

At 9.16am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 3.43 points lower at 1,674.65 against Monday's close of 1,678.08.

It opened 3.4 points weaker at 1,674.68.

On the broader market, gainers led losers 144 to 119, while 203 counters were unchanged, 1,204 untraded and 14 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 127.81 million shares worth RM51.53 million. 

Among heavyweights, TNB gained two sen for RM14.70, IHH added four sen to RM6.65, Public Bank and Petronas Chemicals shed six sen each to RM19.78 and RM6.62 respectively, while Maybank was flat at RM19.78.

Of actives, Vivocom, Reach energy warrant and APFT were flat at 23 sen,three sen and 4.5 sen, while Mycron Steel gained 4.5 sen to 63.5 sen.

Top gainers were Panasonic, up RM1.02 to RM37.76, Nestle rose 70 sen to RM80 and Lay Hong increased 20 sen to RM9.70.

Top losers, on the other hand, were Advanced Packaging, down 18 sen to RM2.40, Petronas Dagangan falling 16 sen to RM23.18 and KLK shedding 12 sen to RM23.50.

The FBM Emas Index fell 15.53 points to 11,772.44, the FBMT 100 Index declined 14.94 points to 11,483.58 and the FBM Emas Shariah Index slipped 16.45 points to 12,425.58.

The FBM 70 rose 13.38 points to 13,636.92, and the FBM Ace was 18.22 points higher at 5,295.36.

Sector-wise, the Finance Index declined 31.50 points to 14,404.93, the Plantation Index fell 21.66 points to 7,822.28, and the Industrial Index slid 4.49 points to 3,134.86. — Bernama
