KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 26 — Bursa Malaysia turned higher at mid-morning today lifted by gains in selected bluechips liken TNB, Maybank and telecommunication counters, dealers said.
At 11.02am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,681.52, up 1.22 points against yesterday's close of 1,682.06.
It opened 4.89 points weaker at 1,675.41.
Among heavyweights, TNB added four sen to RM14.78, Maybank perked seven sen to RM7.97, Axiata and DiGi gained one sen each to RM5.50 and RM5.03, respectively, and Maxis chalked up five sen to RM6.33.
On the scoreboard, the FBM Emas Index went up 13.65 points to 11,789.25, the FBMT100 Index firmed 12.95 points to 11,502.44 but the FBM Emas Syariah Index was 2.04 points lower at 12,416.1.
The FBM Ace jumped 45.68 points to 5,350.46 and the FBM 70 rose 31.91 points to 13,556.74.
Sector-wise, the Finance Index increased 19.89 points to 14,435.34, the Plantation Index was 13.39 points higher at 7,809.14 and the Industrial Index improved four points to 3,156.99.
Gainers edged losers 279 to 258 while 350 counters were unchanged, 817 untraded and 57 others were suspended.
Turnover stood at 519.03 million shares worth RM370.38 million.
Among actives, AirAsia earned one sen to 40.5 sen, Censof added three sen to 24.5 sen, Vivocom inched up half-a-sen to 7.5 sen, AirAsia rose 13 sen to RM2.99 while DBE Gurney slipped half-a-sen to five sen. — Bernama
