KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 10 ― Share prices on Bursa Malaysia remained in the red at mid-morning today on persistent profit-taking in selected heavyweights, dealers said.
At 11.00am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,669.64, down 2.07 points.
The index opened 2.84 points lower at 1,668.87.
However, gainers outpaced losers 290 to 277, while 349 counters were unchanged, 777 untraded and 24 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 878.41 million shares worth RM366.86 million.
Among heavyweights, TNB and Maybank declined two sen each to RM14.60 and RM7.98 respectively, Public Bank gained 10 sen to RM19.46 and IHH Healthcare improved three sen to RM6.58.
The FBM Emas Index slipped 6.15 points to 11,737.97, the FBMT100 Index contracted 8.59 points to 11,434.23 but the FBM Ace rose 36.43 points to 5,468.96.
The FBM 70 edged up 10.06 points to 13,352.94 and the FBM Emas Shariah Index perked 3.58 points to 12,378.90.
Sector-wise, the Finance Index decreased 39.79 points to 14,295.68, the Industrial Index erased 2.52 points to 3,151.61 and the Plantation Index was 2.58 points lower at 7,648.64.
Among actives, HSS Engineering climbed 6.5 sen to 56.5 sen, Dagang Nexchange eased half-a-sen to 21 sen, MBSB shed two sen to 86.5 sen while Sanichi Technology was flat at 8.5 sen. ― Bernama
