KL shares open higher

KUALA LUMPUR, July 11 — Bursa Malaysia was higher in the early session today on the back of active buying momentum in selected heavyweights and lower-liners.

At 9.03am, the key index rose 1.35 points to 1,645.89 after opening 1.3 point higher at 1,645.84.

Among heavyweights, TNB advanced two sen to RM14.12, IHH Healthcare increased six sen to RM6.69, Maxis rose six sen to RM5.99 while Maybank eased one sen to RM8.19.

Axiata and Sime Darby was flat at RM5.50 and RM7.41, respectively.

Of the actives, Borneo Oil and AirAsia X edged up half-a-sen each to 19 sen and 38.5 sen respectively, while Xinghe and Tiger Synergy was down half-a-sen each to four sen and 4.5 sen, respectively.

Market breadth was positive as gainers outpaced decliners by 96 to 42 while 127 counters were unchanged, 1,457 untraded and 18 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 87.28 million shares worth RM21.69 million.  The FBM Emas Index increased 10.54 points to 11,478.19, FBMT100 was up 9.46 points to 11,185.34 and the FBM Ace improved 11.9 points to 5,169.27.  The FBM Emas Shariah rose 13.09 points to 12,032.3 and the FBM 70 expanded 12.05 points to 12,915.87.

On a sectoral basis, the Finance Index contracted 7.68 points to 14,266.63, the Plantation Index eased 7.98 points to 7,509.39 while the Industrial Index was 2.87 points higher at 3,097.07. — Bernama
