KUALA LUMPUR, July 11 — Bursa Malaysia was higher at mid-morning today with buying support in most heavyweights.
At 11am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 9.99 points higher at 1,654.53 from Friday’s close of 1,644.54.
It opened 1.3 points higher at 1,645.84.
Market breadth was positive as gainers led losers 340 to 248, while 268 counters were unchanged, 866 untraded and 18 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 616.07 million shares worth RM430.45 million.
Among heavyweights, TNB rose eight sen to RM14.18, IHH Healthcare improved three sen to RM6.66, Petronas Chemicals advanced two sen to RM6.58 while Maybank and Public Bank eased two sen each to RM8.18 and RM19.32, respectively.
Of the actives, AirAsia increased six sen to RM2.65, Sanichi and Hiap Teck was up half-a-sen each to 17 sen and 21 sen, respectively, while Borneo Oil and AirAsia X was flat at 14 sen and 38 sen, respectively.
The FBM Emas Index jumped 64.98 points to 11,532.64, the FBMT 100 Index gained 63.36 points to 11,239.24 and the FBM 70 went up 56.68 points to 12,960.5.
The FBM Emas Shariah Index leaped 74.82 points to 12,094.03 and the FBM Ace increased 21.35 points to 5,178.72.
Sector-wise, the Finance Index improved 30.8 points to 14,305.11, the Industrial Index rose 31.76 points to 3,125.96 and the Plantation Index expanded 44.61 points to 7,561.98. — Bernama
