KUALA LUMPUR, June 10 — Bursa Malaysia remained lower at mid-afternoon today on continued profit-taking in selected heavyweights and in tandem with its regional peers, dealers said.
At 3pm, the benchmark FBM KLCI was 7.36 points lower at 1,643.15.
It opened 1.14 points higher at 1,651.65.
Losers outpaced gainers 419 to 254 while 328 counters remained unchanged, 703 untraded and 15 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 1.23 billion shares worth RM750.35 million. AllianceDBS Research said the FBM KLCI would likely trade below the 1,650.38 level today, given the analysis of the overall market action yesterday which revealed that buying power was weaker than selling pressure.
Among heavyweights, Maybank shed one sen to RM8.24, TNB rose eight sen to RM13.98, Public Bank added four sen to RM19.08 and Petronas Chemicals eased 11 sen to RM6.55.
As for the actives, Trive Property gained three sen to 10 sen, while Borneo Oil and Vsolar each added one sen each to 15.5 sen and 12 sen respectively, and Raya International declined three sen to 24 sen.
The FBM Emas Index fell 33.29 points to 11,511.58, the FBMT 100 Index was down 32.52 points to 11,203.80 but the FBM 70 Index bucked the trend to rise 24.93 points to 13,071.92.
The FBM Emas Shariah Index fell 57.18 points to 12,060.79 but the FBM Ace added 5.27 to 5,508.40.
On a sectoral basis, the Finance Index lost 19.02 points to 14,233.91, the Industrial Index was 2.64 points lower at 3,081.95 but the Plantation Index gained 1.62 points at 7,596.80. — Bernama
