KUALA LUMPUR, May 25 — Shares on Bursa Malaysia traded sideways at mid morning today on a lack of catalyst, dealers said.
At 11am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) edged up 1.03 points to 1,626.87, from yesterday’s close of 1,625.84.
It opened 4.17 points higher at 1,630.01.
Losers led gainers 366 to 212, while 326 counters were unchanged, 839 untraded and 14 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 710.9 million shares worth RM502.96 million.
The FBM Emas Index declined 13.99 points to 11,380.22, the FBMT100 Index lost 6.41 points to 11,077.47 and the FBM 70 fell 55.21 points to 12,870.07.
The FBM Emas Shariah Index fell 7.87 points to 11,921.53 and the FBM Ace declined 9.69 points to 5,567.71.
Sector-wise, the Finance Index declined 10.96 points to 14,177.12, and the
Plantation Index was 6.76 points lower at 7,446.71, while the Industrial Index gained 10.02 points to 3,074.99.
Among heavyweights, Maybank lost five sen to RM8.26 and TNB eased two sen to RM14, while Public Bank gained six sen to RM19.24 and Petronas Chemicals bagged seven sen to RM6.49.
IHH was flat at RM6.56.
Of the actives, AirAsia X and Vivocom eased one sen each to 39 sen and 30 sen respectively, while AirAsia eased three sen to RM2.29.
O&C Resources perked 9.5 sen to 69 sen, while Vsolar was flat at 10 sen. — Bernama
