KUALA LUMPUR, May 16 ― Shares on Bursa Malaysia remained in negative territory at mid-morning today on lack of buying interest, dealers said.
The index opened 0.26 of a point better at 1,628.52.
Losers led gainers 440 to 131, while 280 counters were unchanged, 860 untraded and 13 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 692.06 million shares worth RM433.02 million.
Among heavyweights, Maybank and IHH slipped two sen each to RM8.47 and RM6.58 respectively, while TNB and Public Bank fell four sen each to RM13.96 and RM19, respectively.
Of the actives, LKL International, which made its debut on the Ace Market today, rose 9.5 sen to 29.5 sen, AirAsia X gained 1.5 sen for 39.5 sen and SMTRACK was 1.5 sen better at 8.5 sen.
The FBM Emas Index lost 78.93 points to 11,322.94, the FBMT100 Index dipped 79.43 points to 11,010.79 and the FBM 70 slid 77.93 points to 12,818.51.
The FBM Emas Shariah Index gave up 91.83 points for 11,813.95 and the FBM Ace declined 59.70 points to 5,703.14.
Sector-wise, the Finance Index dropped 76.21 points for 14,228.82, the Industrial Index was 31.01 points lower at 2,999.48, and the Plantation Index dipped 24.33 points to 7,431.13. ― Bernama
