Ringgit opens higher against US dollar to 4.0230/0280

KUALA LUMPUR, May 12  — The ringgit opened higher against the US dollar today on mild demand from investors and renewed weakness in the greenback, a currency dealer said.

At 9.20am, the local unit strengthened against the US dollar to 4.0230/0280 from 4.0330/0370 yesterday.

The ringgit also traded firmer against other major currencies, except the euro.

It appreciated against the Singapore dollar to 2.9414/9470 from yesterday’s 2.9434/9467 and gained against the yen to 3.7058/7121 from 3.7106/7153.

The ringgit also strengthened against the British pound to 5.8100/8188 from 5.8120/8201, but declined against the euro to 4.5947/6020 from 4.5920/5969. — Bernama
