KUALA LUMPUR, April 27 — Bursa Malaysia remained lacklustre at mid-morning today and in line with regional peers.
At 11.02am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,688.39, down 4.11 points from yesterday’s close of 1,692.50, after opening 2.85 points weaker at 1,689.65.
Market breadth, however, was marginally positive as gainers led losers 276 to 275, with 333 counters unchanged, 848 untraded and 54 others suspended.
Turnover amounted to 742.61 million shares worth RM459.14 million.
Hong Leong Investment Bank (HLIB)Research said investors stayed sideways ahead of the Federal Reserve monetary policy minutes due later today.
Heavyweights were mostly in the red with Maybank and IHH down 3 sen each to RM8.94 and RM6.65 respectively, Public Bank declined 8 sen to RM18.76, TNB added two sen to RM14.42 and Petronas Chemicals was flat at RM6.69.
Among actives, AirAsia X and its warrant improved two sen each to 36 sen and 21 sen respectively, AirAsia gained eight sen for RM1.99 and Borneo oil Bhd bagged half-a-sen to 15 sen.
The FBM Emas Index declined 16.92 points to 11,728.34, the FBMT100 Index lost 21.57 points to 11,424.83, and the FBM Emas Shariah Index shed 14.55 points to 12,283.01.
The FBM70 eased 2.28 points to 13,018.86,while the FBM Ace reduced 5.84 points to 5,666.86.
On a sectoral basis, the Finance Index dropped 35.47 points to 14,666.63 and the Industrial Index slipped 16.82 points to 3,215.82, while the Plantation Index rose 7.34 points to 7,702.66. — Bernama
