KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 14 — Share prices on Bursa Malaysia were lower at mid-afternoon today, weighed down by losses in index-linked heavyweights amid cautious trading.
At 3pm, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 13.38 points lower at 1,626.76.
The key index moved between 1,625.12 and 1,635.28 throughout the session.
Market breadth was negative with losers outpacing gainers by 762 to 134,
with 219 counters unchanged, 647 untraded and 19 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 1.03 billion shares worth RM797.85 million.
For heavyweights, Maybank eased eight sen to RM8.25, Tenaga slipped 16 sen to RM12.98, Public Bank lost four sen to RM18.20 while Petronas Chemicals was three sen lower at RM6.65.
Among actives, XOX was down two sen to 17.5 sen, Asia Media was flat at 2.5 sen and Instacom was half-a-sen easier at 27.5 sen.
On the scoreboard, the FBM Emas Index dropped 98.13 points to 11,341.57, FBMT100 Index decreased 90.60 points to 11,024.91 and the FBM Emas Shariah Index lost 117.98 points to 12,188.43.
The FBM 70 contracted 103.44 points to 12,623.50 and the FBM Ace gave up 136.62 points to 6,290.92.
Sector-wise, the Industrial Index was lower by 36.12 points for 3,146.33, the Plantation Index fell 29.62 points to 7,323.03 while the Finance Index slipped 69.45 points to 13,947.34. — Bernama
