Bursa opens lower on lack of buying momentum

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 26 — The benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) opened lower today on a lack of buying momentum, said a dealer.     

At 9.11am, it was 4.32 points lower at 1,680.1, after opening 6.27 points easier at 1,678.15.

Losers edged gainers 168 to 147, with 176 counters unchanged, 1,353 untraded and 75 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 216.77 million shares worth RM72.33 million.

Among heavyweights, TNB and IHH Healthcare were up four sen each to RM13.62

and RM6.58 respectively, Petronas Chemicals rose seven sen to RM6.99, Axiata gained two sen to RM6.20 and Maybank was flat at RM8.41.

Of the actives, Ingenuity Consolidated and DPS Resources both inched up half-a-sen to seven sen and 15.5 sen respectively, as Kim Teck Cheong Consolidated added one sen to 33 sen and Frontken was flat at 20 sen.

On the scoreboard, the FBM Emas Index depreciated 30.44 points to 11,662.97, the FBMT100 Index declined 30.88 points to 11,346.27 and the FBM Emas Syariah Index trimmed 22.14 points to 12,602.52.

The FBM 70 was down 41.29 points to 12,843.92 and the FBM Ace fell 15.94 points to 6,709.4.

On a sectoral basis, the Finance Index was 22.93 points to 14,107.51 and the Plantation Index weakened 48.92 points to 7,525.32, as the Industrial Index declined 26.52 points for 3,278.37. — Bernama
