KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 23— Bursa Malaysia was higher in the early session today on the back of active buying momentum in selected heavyweights and lower—liners.
At 9.05am, the key index rose 1.34 points to 1,663.23, after opening 0.3 point lower at 1,661.59.
Among heavyweights, Petronas Dagangan jumped 40 sen to RM24.60, Hong Leong Bank increased 22 sen to RM13.98, TNB advanced eight sen to RM13.20, Petronas Chemicals gained four sen to RM6.64 and CIMB Group rose three sen to RM4.59.
Of the actives, Asia Media Group, Globaltec Formation and Nexgram edged up one sen each to 3.5 sen, 7.5 sen and nine sen respectively, Instacom was up 1.5 sen to 33 sen and ConnectCounty added two sen to 19.5 sen.
Market breadth was positive as gainers outpaced decliners by 185 to 86 while 177 counters were unchanged, 1,387 untraded and 11 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 218.06 million shares worth RM59.12 million.
The FBM Emas Index increased 6.61 points to 11,603.74, FBMT100 was up 6.58 points to 11,273.96 and the FBM Ace improved 108.7 points to 7,023.23.
The FBM Emas Shariah declined 3.44 points to 12,525.09 and the FBM 70 contracted 1.52 points to 12,915.37.
On a sectoral basis, the Finance Index went up 19.65 points to 14,097.92, Plantation Index garnered 27.2 points for 7,525.72 and the Industrial Index was 18.18 points lower at 3,275.53. — Bernama
