KL shares end morning session higher

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 6 — Bursa Malaysia ended the morning session higher, lifted by persistent buying momentum in selected heavyweight counters and small capitalisation stocks.

However, gains were limited as investor sentiment remained cautious amid external factors.

At 12.30pm, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) finished the morning session 2.05 points better at 1,690.59, after hovering between 1,685.08 and 1,693.07 throughout the morning session.

Gainers beat losers 390 to 324 with 341 counters unchanged, 746 untraded and 15 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 1.21 billion shares worth RM871.85 million.

Of the heavyweights, Maybank eased three sen to RM8.35, TNB added 10 sen to RM13.30, while Public Bank and Axiata edged up two sen to RM18.22 and RM6.17 respectively.

Among top gainers, United Plantations garnered 60 sen to RM27, Kulim jumped 59 sen to RM3.89, BAT went up 58 sen to RM60.20 and Petronas Dagangan expanded 58 sen to RM23.14.

The FBM Emas Index was 28.68 points higher at 11,761.42, the FBMT100 Index increased 25.26 points to 11,436.49, the FBM 70 perked 70.44 points to 13,017.68, the FBM Ace advanced 24.88 points to 6,428.76 and the FBMSCAP surged 87.99 points to 15,973.58.

Bursa Malaysia issued an Unusual Market Activity (UMA) query to Johore Tin Bhd today due to the rise in its share price recently.

In a statement, Bursa Malaysia advised investors to take note of the company’s reply to the query, which will be posted on the Bursa Malaysia website, when making their investment decision.

As at 12.30pm, Johore Tin’s stock stood at RM2.61, up three sen, with 643,700 shares traded. — Bernama
