KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 5 — The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) remained in positive territory at mid-afternoon today, driven by continuous buying momentum in the heavyweights.
At 3pm, the key index was 14.08 points higher at 1,642.88.
Among the heavyweights, Maybank climbed 14 sen to RM8.59, Public Bank shot up 20 sen to RM18, Petronas Gas chalked up 42 sen to RM22.46 and Genting Malaysia increased 11 sen to RM4.22.
Gainers trounced losers by 507 to 240 while 289 counters were unchanged, 762 untraded and 17 others suspended while turnover stood at 1.17 billion shares worth RM1.03 billion.
On the scoreboard, the FBM Emas Index rose 85.99 points to 11,337.19, FBMT100 Index surged 82.78 points to 11,050.09 and the FBM Emas Shariah Index advanced 97.43 points to 12,049.06.
The FBM 70 expanded 48.52 points to 12,344.45, the FBM Ace improved 75.11 points at 5,622.26, the Plantation Index perked 36.9 points to 7,340.07, the Industrial Index rose 30.3 points to 3,218.01 and the Finance Index soared 169.21 points to 14,113.62.
Of the actives, EA Holdings was 2 sen higher at 8 sen, XOX and China Stationery added 1 sen each to 10 sen and 12 sen respectively while Instacom was up 2.5 sen to 20 sen. — Bernama
