Heavyweights drag FBM KLCI 9.31pts lower at mid-morning

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 29 — Bursa Malaysia remained lower at mid-morning today as losses in heavyweights dragged down the key benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) 9.31 points lower.

At 11.10am, the index stood at 1,599.12 points after opening 7.54 points lower at 1,600.89.

Losers outpaced gainers by 473 to 138 while 196 counters were unchanged, 1,021 untraded and 48 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 770.57 million shares worth RM698.85 million.

Of the heavyweights, Maybank fell nine sen to RM8.31, TNB eased six sen to RM11.98, Public Bank slipped eight sen to RM17.40 while Axiata was three sen lower at RM5.76.

Among the actives were The Media Shoppe, which fell by half-a-sen to 12 sen, AirAsia (-0.4 sen to RM1.23) and IFCA MSC (+0.1 sen to 93.5 sen).

On the scoreboard, the FBM Emas Index was 63.14 points down at 11,077.58, the FBMT100 Index decreased 57.63 points to 10.794.70 and the FBM Emas Shariah Index lost 52.97 points to 11,774.24.

The FBM 70 declined 46.00 points to 12,202.71 and the FBM Ace depreciated  64.14 points to 5,503.36.

Sector-wise, the Industrial Index went down 9.26 points to 3,099.42, the Plantation Index fell 21.90 points to 6,948.79 and the Finance Index trimmed 113.97 points to 13,816.25. — Bernama
