Ringgit opens higher

KUALA LUMPUR, July 13 — The ringgit extended last week’s gains against the US dollar to open higher today and on continued buying interest in the local currency, dealers said.

At 9.05 am, the ringgit was quoted at 3.7910/7940 against the greenback from Friday’s 3.7925/7955.

Against other major currencies, the ringgit traded mixed.

The local note was firmer against the yen at 3.0939/0976 from Friday’s 3.1045/1080 and strengthened against the Singapore dollar to 2.8051/8089 from 2.8091/8117.

It weakened against the pound sterling to 5.8764/8845 from 5.8628/8682 and declined against the euro to 4.2205/2250 from 4.2135/2183. — Bernama
