KL shares open lower

KUALA LUMPUR, July 13 — Bursa Malaysia opened lower today on a lack of buying momentum, dealers said.

At 9.10 am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 6.71 points or 0.39 per cent lower at 1,708.87, after opening 4.83 points easier at 1,710.75.

Market breadth was negative as losers edged gainers 120 to 115, while 153 counters were unchanged, 1,794 untraded and 12 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 111.50 million shares worth RM46.56million.   

On the scoreboard, the FBM Emas Index was easier at 32.15 points for 11,769.93, the FBMT100 Index eased 34.03 points to 11,462.62, and the FBM Emas Syariah Index declined 27.61 points to 12,250.46.                   

The FBM Ace fell 16.91 points at 6,095.57, while the FBM 70 improved 3.11 points to 12,690.45. 

On a sectoral basis, the Plantation Index was 9.48 points better at 7,478.26.But, the Industrial Index slid 5.76 points to 3,156.19 and the Finance Index fell 55.14 points to 15,336.93.

Among heavyweights, Maybank and TNB eased two sen each to RM9.18 and RM12.52 respectively, Public Bank shed 18 sen to RM18.64 and Sime Darby contracted 10 sen to RM8.44.  

Of the actives, 1 Utopia was flat at 3.5 sen, China Automobile added 2.5 sen to 33 sen, iDimension Consolidated was 1.5 sen lower at 10.5 sen, and AirAsia slid three sen to RM1.31. — Bernama
