KL's mid-morning shares up

KUALA LUMPUR, June 19 — Share prices on Bursa Malaysia rose mid-morning, lifted by gains in selected heavyweights led by Maybank and Tenaga Nasional.

As at 11.00 am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,723.53, up 5.41 points, after opening 0.59 of a point lower at 1,718.71.

Market breadth was positive as gainers outpaced losers 349 to 188, with 259 counters unchanged, 1,018 untraded and 13 others were suspended. 

Turnover stood at 558.42 million shares worth RM471.48 million. 

Among heavyweights, Maybank and Tenaga added 14 sen each to RM9.38 and RM12.74, respectively, MISC gained 12 sen to RM8.01, Petronas Chemical improved four sen to RM6.04 and IHH Healthcare added one sen to RM5.71.

Among actives, AirAsia fell one sen to RM1.66, Frontken gained two sen to 27 sen, IFCA MSC improved nine sen to RM1.22, Tenaga-C13 added one sen to eight sen while VSolar was flat at 14 sen. 

On the scoreboard, the FBM Emas Index was 35.37 points higher at 11,922.78, the FBMT100 Index added 34.33 points to 11,615.99, the FBM Emas Syariah was up 19.16 points at 12,371.22, the FBM Ace jumped 119.95 points to 6,310.53 and the FBM 70 rose 30.26 points to 13,065.05.

On a sectoral basis, the Finance Index expanded 85.42 points to 15,641.72, the Industrial Index added 9.99 points for 3,166.85 but the Plantation Index declined 18.34 points to 7,236.49.  — Bernama
