KUALA LUMPUR, June 8 — Bursa Malaysia fell at mid-afternoon today on lack of trading interest, in line with the Asian stock markets, dealers said.
At 3.40pm, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) slipped 6.81 points to 1,738.52.
On the broader market, losers outpaced gainers by 556 to 211 with 277 counters unchanged, 768 untraded and 13 others suspended. Turnover stood at 916.65 million shares worth just RM872.56 million.
Among the laggards in the FBM KLCI component stocks were Tenaga, which eased 16 sen to RM13.22. KLCC Properties & REITS slipped 28 sen to RM7.02, KL Kepong fell 38 sen to RM22.12 and Hong Leong Financial Group lost 48 sen to RM15.52.
Among the actives were Xinghe, its warrants (A) and Hubline which were flat at 7 sen, 2 sen and 2 sen respectively, while Frontken dipped 1 sen to 26 sen.
The FBM Emas Index lost 47.25 points to 12,082.26, FBMT100 Index fell 45.47 points to 11,758.39 and the FBM Emas Shariah Index shed 60.55 points to 12,590.23.
The FBM 70 depreciated 49.48 points to 13,383.06 and the FBM Ace fell 88.89 points to 6,499.06. The Finance Index lost 33.32 points to 15,548.48, Industrial Index edged down 3.40 points to 3,201.12 and the Plantation Index trimmed 59.01 points to 7,433.57. — Bernama
