KUALA LUMPUR, May 27 — The ringgit eased against the US dollar in early trade today on softer buying support for the local unit, said a dealer.

At 9.07am, the local unit was lower at 3.6320/6350 against the greenback from 3.6285/5315 at 5pm yesterday.

The dealer attributed the weaker ringgit to renewed concerns over a US rate hike and Greece’s debt.

The ringgit traded mostly higher against other major currencies.

It fell against the Singapore dollar to 2.6916/6948 from 2.6894/6936 yesterday, but appreciated against the yen to 2.9492/9524 from 2.9553/9580 yesterday.

The local unit strenthened against the Euro to 3.9491/9534 against yesterday’s 3.9514/0562 and rose against the British pound to 5.5878/5943 from 5.5893/6951. — Bernama
