KUALA LUMPUR, May 19 — The ringgit opened lower against the US dollar on profit taking activities, dealers said.

At 9.05am, the local unit declined to 3.5820/5850 against the dollar from 3.5675/5705 yesterday.

As against other currencies, the ringgit remained weaker.

It depreciated against the Singapore dollar to 2.6985/7012 from 2.6969/6996 yesterday and eased against the yen to 2.9875/9912 from 2.9806/9836 previously.

The local currency also traded lower against the British pound at 5.6069/6130 from 5.5885/5939 yesterday but strengthened against the euro to 4.0527/0564 from 4.0616/0661 yesterday. — Bernama
