KUALA LUMPUR, April 15 — Bursa Malaysia ended marginally higher today with the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) closing 0.52 of-a-point better at 1,840.13.
Oil and gas stalwart, SapuraKencana, was the biggest contributor to the composite index, gaining 20 sen to RM2.60 with 25.62 million shares changing hands, while top weighted Maybank eased four sen to RM9.34.
Actively traded stocks included Xinghe and its warrant (A) which were flat at eight sen and 2.5 sen respectively, while Frontken added 2.5 sen to 24.5 sen, Perisai gained four sen to 57.5 sen and KNM Group garnered 4.5 sen to 68 sen.
Market breadth was positive with gainers outpacing losers by 518 to 307 with 353 counters unchanged, 624 counters untraded and 11 others suspended.
Total volume expanded to 2.70 billion shares worth RM2.51 billion from 2.02 billion shares worth RM2.08 billion on Tuesday.
On other scoreboard, the FBM Emas Index improved 28.83 points to 12,663.93, the FBMT100 Index gained 19.43 points at 12,335.13, and the FBM Emas Syariah Index added 24.25 points to 13,204.64.
The FBM 70 rose 83.06 points to 13,619.85 while the FBM Ace soared 79.74 points to 7,266.19.
Sector-wise, the Finance Index eased 11.11 points to 16,273.50, Plantation Index trimmed 21.77 points to 7,728.58, while the Industrial Index slipped 4.93 points to 3,410.49.
Aeon Credit led the list of top gainers, adding 50 sen to RM14.22, while the top loser was Takaful which fell 30 sen to RM14.28.
Main Market volume rose to 1.73 billion units worth RM2.26 billion against yesterday’s 1.04 billion units worth RM1.83 billion.
Turnover on the ACE Market shrank to 890.70 million shares valued at RM234.00 million compared with 918.50 million shares valued at RM242.38 million yesterday.
Warrants improved to 74.78 million units worth RM10.92 million from 55.42 million units worth RM9.95 million previously.
Consumer products accounted for 114.38 million shares traded on the Main Market, industrial products (320.32 million), construction (74.46 million), trade and services (893.19 million), technology (111.55 million), infrastructure (33.05 million), SPAC (15.12 million), finance (56.99 million), hotels (4.95 million), properties (81.92 million), plantations (18.41 million), mining (19,000), REITs (9.27 million) and closed/fund (30,000). — Bernama
