FBM KLCI closes lower

KUALA LUMPUR, March 10 — The benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) ended lower today, reversing earlier gains on lack of buying momentum.

At 5pm, the FBM KLCI settled at 1,789.73, down 2.01 points after fluctuating between 1,789.73 and 1,799.05 throughout the day.

Among heavyweights, Maybank rose three sen to RM9.23, TNB added four sen to RM14.66, Public Bank was flat at RM18.38, Axiata fell five sen to RM7.11 and Sime Darby lost 17 sen to RM9.17.

Of the actively-traded stocks, Wintoni added two sen to 31.5 sen, Privasia Technology went up 2.5 sen to 28.5 sen, Flonic Hi-Tec edged up half-a-sen to seven sen and Xinghe Holdings was flat at 13 sen.

On the broader market, gainers led losers by 457 to 349 with 339 counters unchanged, 608 untraded and 12 others suspended.

Total volume rose to 2.53 billion shares worth RM2.31 billion from 2.13 billion shares worth RM1.86 billion on Monday.

The FBM Emas Index contracted 2.14 points to 12,348.26, the FBMT100 Index fell 4.37 points to 12,029.59 while the FBM Ace advanced 59.2 points to  6,863.65.

The FBM Emas Shariah Index was 30.24 points lower at 12,933.7 but the FBM 70 gained 30.49 points to 13,406.33.

On a sectoral basis, the Industrial Index slipped 14.91 points to 3,272.62, the Plantation Index declined 62.26 points to 7,822.01 but the Finance Index gained 82.43 points to 15,985.85. -- MORE SRH SRH NN Main Market volume increased to 1.28 billion units worth RM2.08 billion against yesterday’s 935.17 million units worth RM1.62 billion.

Turnover on the ACE Market was slightly higher at 1.14 billion shares valued at RM207.33 million from 1.08 billion shares valued at RM220.50 million yesterday.

Warrants depreciated to 104.94 million units worth RM23.12 million from     111.20 million units worth RM19.40 million previously.

Consumer products accounted for 99.18 million shares traded on the Main Market, industrial products (226.7 million), construction (52.89 million), trade and services (466.34 million), technology (109.95 million), infrastructure (24.31 million), SPAC (134.14 million), finance (51.01 million), hotels (3.85 million), properties (78.99 million), plantations (30.53 million), mining (200), REITs (11.39 million) and closed/fund (14,100). — Bernama
