Share prices mixed at mid-afternoon, CI up 4.86 pts

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 27 — Share prices on Bursa Malaysia were mixed at mid-afternoon today as losses in selected blue-chips and low-liners offset gains in heavyweights, dealers said.

At 3pm, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,801.3, up 4.86 points.

Market breadth was negative with decliners outpacing gainers by 364 to 339, while 314 counters were unchanged, 734 untraded and 23 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 1.36 billion shares worth RM1.18 billion.

Among actives, Systech and Asia Bioenergy added two sen each to 38 sen and 21 sen, while Sanichi rose half a sen to 9.5 sen.

Of the heavyweights, Public Bank added six sen to RM18.12 and DiGi gained three sen to RM6.39. Tenaga Nasional lost 10 sen to RM14.98. Maybank was flat at RM8.92 sen,

The FBM Emas Index rose 12.2 points to 12,382.88, the FBMT100 Index added 12.66 points to 12,087.29 and the FBM Emas Shariah Index went up 18.96 points to 12,985.4.

The FBM 70 declined 63.02 points to 13,393.4. The FBM Ace rose 55.16 points to 6,422.24.

On a sectorial basis, the Plantation Index rose 64.43 points to 7,997.65 and the Finance Index went up 44.061 points to 15,638.44.
