Short-term rates to stay stable

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 26 — Short-term interbank rates are expected to remain stable today on Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM)'s intervention to absorb excess liquidity from the financial system.

BNM estimated today's liquidity at RM28.97 billion in the conventional system and RM15.39 billion in Islamic funds.

The central bank will conduct two conventional money market tenders comprising RM3 billion for seven days and RM2 billion for 14 days.

It will also carry out a RM1 billion repo tender for 14 days and a RM5.6 billion Al-Wadiah tender for four to 14 days.

At 4 pm, Bank Negara will conduct up to RM23 billion in conventional overnight tenders and a RM9.8 billion Al-Wadiah overnight tender. — Bernama
