Mild buying on bursa has KL shares opening higher

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 4 — Share prices on Bursa Malaysia opened higher today on mild buying activity, dealers said.

At 9.03am, the key index stood at 1,761.26, up 3.11 points, after opening 2.1 points higher at 1,760.25.

The FBM Emas Index increased by 12.08 points to 12,099.43, the FBMT100 Index gained 12.5 points to 11,820.32, with the FBM Ace rising 13.48 points to 5,989.41, and the FBM Emas Syariah Index improving 4.79 points to 12,521.59. However, the FBM 70 slipped 18.59 points to 13,103.43.

Sector-wise, the Plantation Index declined 5.51 points to 8,075.53, the Industrial Index was 4.53 points lower at 3,199.13, while the Finance Index added 28.94 points to 15,677.57.

Market breadth was positive, with gainers leading losers 93 to 64, while 117 counters were unchanged, 1,435 untraded and nine others suspended. Turnover stood at 95.75 million shares worth RM24.76 million.

Among heavyweights, Maybank and TNB improved 2 sen each to RM8.97 and RM13.80 respectively, while Public Bank was 2 sen lower at RM18.18 as Axiata declined 4 sen RM6.90, with Sime Darby flat at RM9.51.

Among actives, Minetech Resources was down 1 sen to 10 sen, Bumi Armada gained 1 sen to RM1.03, while PDZ and Technodex garnered 0.5 sen to 15.5 sen and 23.5 sen respectively. — Bernama
