KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 20 — Pos Malaysia Bhd’s pre-tax profit fell to RM49.603 million for the second quarter ended Sept 30, 2014 from RM54.757 million in the same period last year.

Revenue, however, increased to RM371.666 million from RM316.977 million a year ago, it said in a filing to Bursa Malaysia today.

For the six-month period, the group generated higher revenue of RM740.463 million for the period ended Sept 30, 2014 as compared to RM672.794 million in the preceding corresponding period.

“This represents an increase of RM67.7 million or equivalent to 10.1 per cent growth. In the corresponding period last year, a one-off contribution in revenue from the General Election 2013 volume amounted close to RM11 million.

“Excluding the one-off contribution, revenue growth stood at 11.9 per cent on an annualised basis, which outperformed the 8.1 per cent growth registered in the same period in financial year ended 2013,” it said. — Bernama
