KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 14 — Malaysia's economy grew 5.6 per cent in the third quarter from a year earlier, as expected, slowing from 6.5 per cent growth in the second quarter, amid concerns over the impact of a fragile global economy on Malaysian exports.
The central bank revised upwards its estimate for growth in the second quarter from 6.4 per cent earlier.
Economists polled by Reuters forecast gross domestic product growth to slow to 5.6 per cent in the third quarter as exports slowed considerably since July after a robust first half.
The current-account surplus narrowed to RM7.6 billion ringgit in the quarter from RM16 billion in the second quarter of 2014. — Reuters
