Bursa shares open lower prompted by weak performance on Wall Street

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 4 ― Share prices on Bursa Malaysia opened lower today prompted by the weak performance on Wall Street last night.

At 9.10am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 2.47 points or 0.13 per cent easier at 1,850.87 after opening 1.47 points lower at 1,851.87.

Market breadth was negative with decliners outpacing gainers 125 to 105 while 157 counters were unchanged, 1,259 untraded and 13 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 74.86 million shares worth RM38.62 million.     

The FBM Emas Index lost 21.58 points to 12,856.52, the FBMT100 Index declined 19.94 points to 12,492.66 and the FBM Emas Syariah Index shed 24.81 points to 13,333.30.

The FBM 70 fell 34.83 points to 14,121.67, however, the FBM Ace was 0.6 of a point better at 6,550.64.

On a sectorial basis, the Finance Index gained 1.18 points to 16,797.75 but the Industrial Index dipped 27.75 points to 3,241.06 and the Plantation Index trimmed 14.50 points to 8,494.04.

Among heavyweights, Tenaga Nasional increased ten sen to RM13.60 while  Telekom added seven sen to RM7.35 and KL Kepong gained 20 sen to RM23.10.

Actively traded stocks this morning included Ni Hsin Resources, K-One Technology and its warrant (B), Sumatec Resources, and YTL Power. ― Bernama
