KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 29 — Shares on Bursa Malaysia were mixed at mid-afternoon today amid lacklustre trading, dealers said.
They said some heavyweights and blue-chips, however, continued to gain.
At 3pm, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,842.58, up 2.08 points, after opening better at 1,841.05.
Market breadth was negative as losers outpaced gainers 378 to 332, while 370 counters were unchanged, 551 untraded and 38 others suspended.
Volume stood at 1.67 billion shares worth RM968.96 million.
On the scoreboard, the Finance Index rose 31.951 points to 17,176.72 and the Industrial Index gained 3.11 points to 3,211.1.
The Plantation Index fell 27.69 points to 8,389.01.
The FBM Emas Index was 5.58 points higher at 12,902.63, FBM 70 increased 20.81 points to 14,293.2, FBMT100 Index rose 6.59 points to 12,484.34 and the FBM ACE bagged nine points for 7,302.16.
Of the heavyweights, Maybank rose three sen to RM9.88, while Public Bank and Tenaga Nasional gained two sen each to RM18.92 and RM12.30, respectively.
Among actives, Berjaya Corp added one sen to 58 sen, PDZ Holdings slipped one sen to 30 sen and Takaso improved 1.5 sen to 61 sen.
The top gainers were Press Metal-Wc, which rose 41 sen to RM4.20, while Lafarge Malaysia increased 20 sen to RM10.48 and Aeon Credit advanced 24 sen to RM15.58. — Bernama
