KL shares lower at mid-afternoon

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 23 — Shares on Bursa Malaysia were lower at mid-afternoon today, with the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) 6.22 points easier.

The index stood at 1,839.83 points as at 3.26pm.

Losers edged gainers by 502 to 249, while 323 counters were unchanged, 554 untraded and 14 others suspended.

Among heavyweights, Maybank and Axiata remained unchanged at RM10.04 and RM6.96, Public Bank lost 12 sen to RM19 and CIMB added 8.0 sen to RM12.28.

Among actives, Ni Hsin Resources gained 6.0 sen to 51.5 sen and Iris Corporation eased half-a-sen to 41.5 sen.

The Finance Index fell 82.22 points to 17,268.47 points, Industrial Index erased 19.03 points to 3,183.89 points and the Plantation Index was down 44.64 points to 8,378.08 points.

The FBM Emas Index edged down 43.64 points to 12,880.74 points, FBMT100 Index slipped 44.36 points to 12,458.22 points, FBM 70 decreased 59.36 points to 14,234.33 points and the FBM Emas Shariah was 27.52 points weaker at 13,138.56 points.

The FBM Ace soared 58.02 points to 7,354.26 points. — Bernama
