KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 8 — OCBC Bank (Malaysia) Bhd (OCBC Malaysia) has appointed its Head of Business Banking, Ong Eng Bin, as the bank’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), with effect from August 8, 2014.

In a statement, OCBC Group CEO Samuel Tsien said Ong has taken up the challenge of assuming the role for the Malaysia franchise.

“His appointment is yet another example of our effective development of home talents and succession planning.

“Under Ong’s leadership, our corporate banking business has sustained good growth momentum over the past two years,” he added.

Ong has been with OCBC Malaysia for 26 years and served as Head of Credit and Marketing of a branch before joining the corporate banking division in the early 1990s.

Under Ong, the division accounted for 55 per cent of its revenue and 65 per cent of its pre-tax profit in 2013. — Bernama
