KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 5 — Share prices on Bursa Malaysia closed mixed today but selected heavyweights managed to lift the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) higher.
At 5pm, the key index ended 0.89 of a point higher at 1,876.69 after touching an intraday low of 1,872.14.
Decliners led advancers by 482 to 403, with 301 counters unchanged, 421 untraded and 11 others suspended.
Of the heavyweights, Public Bank rose six sen to RM19.88 while both Axiata and CIMB added three sen to RM6.97 and RM7.05 respectively, and Maybank was flat at RM9.98.
The Finance Index rose 24.81 points to 17,446.65, Industrial Index declined 1.22 points to 3,209.76 and the Plantation Index rose 20.37 points to 8,960.75.
The FBM Emas Index was 2.71 points higher at 13,121.01, FBMT100 Index appreciated 2.45 points to 12,682.97, FBM 70 fell 10.97 points to 14,396.53 and the FBM Ace added 2.01 points to 7,133.67. Total volume decreased to 2.88 billion units valued at RM2.160 billion from 3.01 billion units valued at RM2.239 billion yesterday.
Among actives, MAS edged up half-a-sen to 23.5 sen, DGB Asia rose 2.5 sen to 13.5 sen, Zelan added three sen to 39 sen and AT Systematization went up 1.5 sen to 10 sen. Sumatec fell 2.5 sen to 47 sen and Talam Transform edged down half-a-sen to 13 sen.
Main Market volume declined to 2.12 billion units worth RM2.016 billion from 2.24 billion units worth RM2.09 billion yesterday.
Turnover on the ACE market increased to 707.15 million shares valued at RM133.162 million from yesterday’s 672.26 million shares valued at RM131.92 million.
Warrants decreased to 41.21 million units worth RM6.88 million from 44.65 million units worth RM5.22 million previously.
Consumer products accounted for 141.40 million shares traded on the Main Market, industrial products 273.62 million, construction 205.78 million, trade and services 1.05 billion, technology 93.46 million, infrastructure 12.81 million, SPAC 15.69 million, finance 78.23 million, hotels 3.79 million, properties 229.04 million, plantations 16.31 million, mining 141,800, REITs 6.15 million and closed/fund 47,000. — Bernama
