KL shares mixed at mid-afternoon

KUALA LUMPUR, July 24 — Share prices on Bursa Malaysia were mixed at mid-afternoon today, as losses in selected heavyweights limited gains, dealers said.

At 3pm, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 1.58 points better at 1,873.41.

Losers led gainers by 417 to 370 with 327 counters unchanged, 521 untraded and 13 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 1.21 billion shares worth RM996.15 million.

Among the actives, MAS, Talam Transform and Sumatec were flat at 22.5 sen, 12 sen and 41 sen, respectively. Mulpha International rose 2.5 sen to 52.5 sen.

Of the heavyweights, Public Bank added four sen to RM20.02 and TNB improved two sen to RM12.44. Maybank fell one sen to RM9.90 and Axiata erased three sen to RM6.86.

On the scoreboard, the Finance Index lost 42.58 points to 17,349.22 and the Plantation Index dipped 9.51 points to 9,017.49.

The Industrial Index advanced 4.9 points to 3,235.97.

The FBM Emas Index rose 5.58 points to 13,079.43, FBMT100 Index went up 5.33 points to 12,657.66 and the FBM ACE soared 18.77 points to 7,073.52.
