KL shares turn mixed mid-afternoon

KUALA LUMPUR, June 10 — Shares on Bursa Malaysia turned mixed at mid-afternoon on some profit-taking amid a relatively quiet session due to lack of market catalysts, dealers said.

At 3.05pm, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose 1.71 points to 1,865.4 from yesterday’s close of 1,863.69.

However, market breadth was negative as losers outpaced gainers 326 to 316, while 338 counters were unchanged, 645 untraded and 17 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 690.07 million shares worth RM793.57 million.

On the scoreboard, the Finance Index slipped 17.22 points to 17,149.25, the Industrial Index gained 9.03 points to 3,171.33, while the Plantation Index declined 3.31 points to 9,175.77.

The FBM Emas Index was 5.64 points higher at 12,904.52, the FBMT100 Index gained 6.28 points to 12,549.77, the FBM Ace declined 7.16 points to 6,598.8 while the FBM 70 declined 13.49 points to 14,026.61.

Among actives, iDimension slipped 1.5 sen to 16.5 sen, Sona Petroleum fell one sen to 52.5 sen and ETI Tech rose half a sen to 7.5 sen.

Of the heavyweights, Maybank was unchanged at RM9.85, Public Bank declined six sen to RM20.74 and Tenaga was flat at RM11.78. — Bernama
