Share prices remain lower at mid-afternoon

KUALA LUMPUR, May 23 — Share prices on Bursa Malaysia remained lower at mid-afternoon, dragged down by selling in heavyweights.

At 3.22pm, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,870.59, down 4.53 points.

Among heavyweights, Maybank and TNB shed 2.0 sen to RM9.93 and RM12.16 respectively, CIMB fell 8.0 sen to RM7.30, Axiata eased 1.0 sen to RM6.92 but Public Bank added 2.0 sen to RM19.90.

Among actives, Sumatec appreciated 1.5 sen to 28 sen, MAS was unchanged at 17 sen and AirAsia X lost half-a-sen to 76.5 sen.

Losers led gainers 460 to 241, while 330 counters were unchanged, 595 untraded and 27 others suspended. Turnover stood at 1.04 billion shares worth RM1.05 million.

The Finance Index depreciated 38.58 points to 17,082.72, the Industrial Index fell 1.69 points to 3,195.48 and the Plantation Index shed 76.27 points to 9,238.11. The FBM Emas Index slipped 31.45 points to 12,926.6, the FBMT100 Index declined 30.72 points to 12,577.29, the FBM Ace slid 26.43 points to 6,598.68 and the FBM 70 decreased 35.14 points to 14,028.35. — Bernama
