FBM KLCI marginally higher at mid-morning

KUALA LUMPUR, April 28 ― After struggling to stay in positive territory, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) edged higher at mid-morning today driven by gains in selected heavyweights.

The benchmark index was marginally higher at 1,861.55, up 0.57 point as at 11.09am.

Of the heavyweights, Maybank and Public Bank added 2.0 sen each to RM9.97 and RM20.28 respectively, TNB lost 2.0 sen to RM11.92 while CIMB was flat at RM7.51.

Among actives, PDZ Holdings and 1 Utopia gained half-a-sen each to 16 sen and 8.0 sen respectively, while Karambunai Corp eased half-a-sen to 9.5 sen.

However, market breadth was negative as losers outpaced gainers 330 to 262, while 312 counters were unchanged, 725 untraded and 30 others suspended.      

Turnover stood at 857.35 million shares worth RM406.93 million.

On the scoreboard, the Finance Index depreciated 7.27 points for 17,066.31, but the Industrial Index was 7.64 points higher at 3,154.62 and the Plantation Index added 5.76 points to 9,001.49.         

The FBM Emas Index gained 4.41 points for 12,922.76, the FBMT100 Index increased 3.38 points to 12,553.36, the FBM 70 rose 2.16 points to 14,145.87 and the FBM Ace was 0.36 point better at 6,910.52. ― Bernama
