KOTA KINABALU, April 12 — The Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) has spent some RM1 million for the latest initiative, Workshop Entrepreneur Transformation (WET), held throughout Sabah to help entrepreneurs increase their revenue.

Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed said the initiative by Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI) had already started with 90 entrepreneurs in the automotive workshop, who will receive their certificates for completing the first phase today.

“The second phase will start next week,” he said after opening the one-day Entrepreneurship Development Outreach Programme here today.

Mustapa said this project was aimed at increasing entrepreneurs’ profit margin by two-fold in one year and to create new business opportunities in the automotive sector.

More than 250 participants comprising members of Sabah entrepreneurial associations, cooperatives, chambers of commerce and non-governmental organisations as well as representatives from federal and state agencies were involved in this programme.

Meanwhile, he said MITI had increased its allocation for Sabah to upgrade its existing industrial estate, in support of Sabah as an investment destination.

The ministry would increase the allocation to RM4.4 million this year from RM4 million last year, he added. — Bernama
