Shares prices continued downtrend at mid-morning

KUALA LUMPUR, March 3 ― Share prices on Bursa Malaysia continued downtrend at mid-morning, dragged down by losses seen in index-linked counters.

At 11.07 am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) fell 12.22 points to 1,823.44, after fluctuating between 1,813.6 and 1,835.27.     

The Plantation Index lost 41.14 points to 8,717.99, the Finance Index plunged 105.01 points to 16,501.11, while the Industrial Index eased 26.32 points to 3,102.81.

The FBM Emas Index fell 77.85 points to 12,591.66, the FBMT100 Index slipped 76.06 points to 12,279.7, the FBM 70 shed 61.05 points to 13,772.66 while the FBM ACE erased 36.34 points to 6,407.53.

There were 580 losers and 181 gainers, while 223 counters were unchanged, 703 untraded and 14 others were suspended.

Turnover totalled 858.76 million shares worth RM534.42 million.

Among actives, Minetech was flat at 18 sen, but Daya Materials slipped three sen to 37.5 sen.

As for heavyweights, Maybank fell five sen to RM9.73, TNB shed two sen to RM11.98, CIMB lost seven sen to RM7.09, Sime Darby declined six sen to RM9.05 but Axiata was flat at RM6.55. ― Bernama
