KL shares turn mixed mid-afternoon

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 25 ― Share prices on Bursa Malaysia turned mixed at mid-afternoon today on mild buying interest for local equities, dealers said.

At 3pm, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 1.74 points better at 1,830.42.

On the scoreboard, the Finance Index improved 3.61 points to 16,566.77, the Industrial Index added 7.22 points to 3,125.35 and the Plantation Index increased 16.98 points to 8,816.94.

The FBM Emas gained 4.43 points to 12,655.80, the FBMT100 rose 11.52 points to 12,324.26, the FBM 70 earned 12.14 points for 13,813.15, while the FBM Ace fell 145.08 points to 6,660.41.

Market breadth was negative with decliners outnumbering advancers 546 to 249, with 288 counters unchanged, 550 untraded and 17 others suspended.

Turnover amounted to 2.09 billion shares worth RM1.28 billion.   

Among actives, Iris Corp slipped four sen to 57.5 sen, Luster Industries fell one sen to 12.5 sen and KNM-WA lost half-a-sen to 18 sen.

Of the heavyweights, Maybank and Tenaga Nasional gave up two sen each to RM9.73 and RM12.02 respectively, while CIMB was flat at RM7.09. ― Bernama
