Minister appoints Zuraidah public director of Bursa Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 19 ― The Minister of Finance has appointed lawyer and banker Datuk Zuraidah Atan as public director of Bursa Malaysia Bhd.

In a statement today, Bursa Malaysia said Zuraidah has honours degree in law from University of Buckingham, England and Certificate in Legal Practice in 1992.

“Zuraidah is also a member of the Malaysian Bar and is currently in legal practice,” it said.

Bursa Malaysia said Zuraidah has over 25 years’ working experience in the banking industry.

“She was Chief Executive Officer of Perwira Affin Bank from September 1999 to September 2003, the first Malay woman to helm a bank,” it said.

Zuraidah is also an arbitrator in the KL Regional Centre for Arbitration and serves as an honorary advisor to National Cancer Society of Malaysia, a non-governmental organisation engaged in cancer awareness and charity.

She currently sits on the board of Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Bhd. ― Bernama
