Exxonmobil subsidiaries in Malaysia appoint new chairman

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 16 — See Kok Yew has been appointed as the President of ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Malaysia Inc (EMEPMI) and Chairman of the ExxonMobil Subsidiaries in Malaysia with effect from yesterday.

In a statement today, The ExxonMobil Subsidiaries in Malaysia said See succeeded J. Hunter Farris who will relocate to Houston and assume the position as the new Vice-President, Global Engineering of ExxonMobil Production Company.

Prior to his appointment, See was a Production Manager for ExxonMobil Production Company businesses in the US Lower 48, based in Houston, Texas.

See started his career with EMEPMI in 1990 and held various technical, supervisory and management positions in Kerteh, Terengganu, and in Kuala Lumpur.

In 2003, he was assigned overseas to ExxonMobil Production Company in Houston, Texas, as the Regional Advisor to the Vice-President for Asia Pacific/Middle East.

Two years later, he was appointed as the Operations Manager for the Gulf of Mexico assets in ExxonMobil US Production.

In 2007, See moved to the Exxon Mobil Corporation head office in Irving, Texas, to become the Senior Upstream Advisor to the Corporate Senior Vice-President.

In 2009, he returned to Houston to assume the post of the US Production Manager where he was responsible for ExxonMobil Production Company assets in the Gulf of Mexico, Mobile Bay, Alabama, offshore California, the Rockies in Wyoming and Colorado, and onshore assets in Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas.

Born and raised in Penang, See holds a civil and structural engineering degree from the University of Malaya.

The ExxonMobil Subsidiaries in Malaysia are a group of companies, which have business activities ranging from upstream development and production of oil and gas to the marketing of chemical products.

In the upstream, EMEPMI produces about a sixth of the nation’s crude oil and condensate and supplies about half of Peninsular Malaysia’s natural gas needs. 

Its Business Support Centre in Malaysia hosts the ExxonMobil Regional Computer Room and provides 24-hour basis IT support across the globe.

Additionally, the ExxonMobil Engineering Global Support Office provides technical, engineering and application support for ExxonMobil’s refineries around the world. — Bernama
