Share prices firmer at mid-morning

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 13 — Share prices on Bursa Malaysia remained firm at mid-morning today, with blue chips remaining an attraction led by consumer and oil and gas stocks.

At 11am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) garnered 9.17 points to 1,835.78. It opened lower at 1,825.42.

On the scoreboard, the Finance Index firmed 57.72 points to 16,788.74, the Plantation Index rose 25.68 points to 8,650.03 and the Industrial Index was 23.18 points higher at 3,110.59.

The FBM Emas Index surged 52.51 points to 12,711.95, the FBMT100 Index perked 52.92 points to 12,412.87, the FBM Ace garnered 28.14 points to 5,989.32, with the FBM 70 gaining 24.07 points to 14,117.6.

Market tone was positive with gainers leading losers by 334 to 283, with 943 counters unchanged.

Turnover totalled 743.3 million shares worth RM415.8 million. — Bernama
