KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 10 — The ringgit opened lower against the US dollar in early trade today as investor appetite shifted towards the greenback.
At 9.16am, the ringgit was quoted at 3.2202/2050 against the US dollar, after hitting its highest level in two months yesterday to close at 3.2080/2110.
A dealer said buying appetite favoured the US dollar due to the strong US November non-farm payroll report.
Meanwhile, the ringgit was traded mostly higher against other major currencies.
The local unit rose against the yen to 3.0994/1024 from 3.1097/1141 yesterday and strengthened against the Singapore dollar to 2.5628/5654 from 2.5650/5692 yesterday.
The domestic currency weakened against the British pound to 5.2590/2643 from 5.2499/2564 previously, but improved against the euro to 4.3989/4043 from 4.3998/4048 yesterday. — Bernama
