FBM KLCI broadly higher at mid-morning

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 9 — The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was traded broadly higher at mid-morning led by gains in plantation and finance counters.

As at 11am, the benchmark index rose 10.72 points to 1,837.67, after opening 0.02 point lower at 1,826.93.

Finance stocks Maybank gained eight sen to RM9.91 and CIMB added two sen to RM7.69, while plantation stocks Sime Darby increased seven sen to RM9.60 and IOI Corporation improved 13 sen to RM6.03.

Market breadth was positive with gainers leading losers by 348 to 191, with 258 counters unchanged, 760 untraded and 19 others suspended.   

Turnover was at 407.028 million shares worth RM340.346 million.

On the scoreboard, the Finance Index rose 75.36 points to 16,834.19, the Plantation Index gained 75.91 points to 9,074.51 and the Industrial Index was 30.7 points higher at 3,128.07.

The FBM Emas Index garnered 74.04 points to 12,700.97, the FBMT100 Index added 73.97 points to 12,436.10, the FBM 70 rose 90.3 points to 14,189.01 and the FBM Ace improved 25.55 points to 5,578.85.

Among actives, Sanichi Technology fell half-a-sen to 9.5 sen, Sona Petroleum-WA added 1.5 sen to 28 sen and Sona Petroleum rose two sen to 45.5 sen.

Of the heavyweights, Tenaga Nasional fell two sen to RM10.98, Axiata was flat at RM6.73 and Maxis declined six sen to RM7.11. — Bernama
